1. What is GHCWCA?

The Global Healthcare Workers Certification Association (GHCWCA) is the first and only international body dedicated to standardizing, regulating, and certifying allied health professionals across borders. Our certifications align with ISO/IEC 17024, WHO, and other international frameworks to ensure workforce mobility and compliance worldwide.

2. Who is eligible to apply for certification?

Eligibility varies by credential, but all candidates must:

  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Hold a high school diploma or international equivalent.
  • Apply through one of three pathways: formal education, professional experience, or exam exemption.

3. What credentials does GHCWCA offer?

GHCWCA currently certifies professionals in the following areas:

  • Globally Certified Medical Assistant (GCMA)
  • Globally Certified Surgical Technologist (GCST)
  • Globally Certified Phlebotomy Technician (GCPT)
  • Globally Certified EKG Technician (GCET)
  • Globally Certified Patient Care Technician (GCPCT)

4. How do I apply for certification?

  1. Select your pathway (education, experience, or exemption).
  2. Submit your online application at GHCWCA.org.
  3. Upload the required supporting documentation (transcripts, employment verification, or prior credentials).
  4. Once approved, you’ll receive instructions to schedule your exam or finalize exemption.

5. How are the exams structured?

Exams vary by credential but generally include:

  • Multiple-choice written exams (100–175 questions).
  • Practical skills demonstrations or image interpretation where applicable (phlebotomy, EKG, radiology, sonography, dental assisting, etc.).
  • Passing scores range from 70% to 72% depending on the credential.

6. Are GHCWCA certifications recognized internationally?

Yes. All GHCWCA certifications are built on ISO/IEC 17024 standards and aligned with international healthcare organizations such as:

  • WHO (World Health Organization)
  • The Joint Commission & CMS
  • AORN, ACORN, AIUM, EFSUMB, ISRRT, FDI World Dental Federation

This ensures recognition across borders and supports global workforce mobility.

7. How long is certification valid?

Certifications are valid for 3 years. To remain active, professionals must:

  • Complete 40 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) per renewal cycle.
  • Maintain annual verified work experience hours (amount varies by credential).
  • Comply with GHCWCA’s global recertification and auditing requirements.

8. What if I already hold a national certification?

If you hold a national certification recognized by GHCWCA, you may qualify for exam exemption. Documentation must be submitted for review, and equivalency is determined on a case-by-case basis.

9. How do employers verify a candidate’s certification?

Employers can verify credentials through the GHCWCA Global Registry, an online system that confirms certification status, renewal compliance, and standing.

10. How much does certification cost?

The application and exam fee, which includes document verification, exam scheduling, and registry placement. Renewal and continuing education costs may vary.
